I have a double dapple Dachshund. The Dachshund Club of America recommends not breeding this pattern due to health issues; specifically blindness and deafness.
I prayed over my dog several times to be able to hear when she was a puppy. I know God answered my prayer, she hears when I call. However, sometimes she mistakes my hand for the treat. I often wonder how she sees. Is her vision distorted? If her vision is distorted, she really wouldn’t know it since she was born this way.
The Bible says we are born of sin, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” Psalm 51:5 NIV and “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9. If this is the case, then our vision as humans may be like my dogs, distorted and we wouldn’t know it. We need to rely on God to allow us to see with His eyes and to have His heart.
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” Eph 1:18 NIV
