How do we receive God’s Love?

Sounds easy right. Just open your heart. However, a person who has a brokenheart, a heart that has been shattered may not be able to initally receive God’s love. There are some steps you can take:

First, ask yourself, do you love God? If you love God, you want to keep His word, “But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.” 1 John 2:5

Know that He loves you. “We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 NKJV

Second, ask the Lord to heal the areas in your heart that have been broken and for Him to bind up the wounds. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3. By asking Him, you are saying Lord, do what you have promised.

Third, open your heart to receive what He has to offer, “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—  to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Eph 3:17-19
