Holding on During the Storm

Holding on During the Storm

Once I was on a ferry boat during a big storm. The waves were over ten feet and those on shore didn’t expect us to make it back. As the boat would go up in the air and then slam down, I would go up and then slam down on the wooden bench where I was sitting. I had to hold on really tightly. There were chairs in the center of the room and one actually fell backwards with an elderly man in the chair.

We go through storms in our lives and we must hold onto something. Some people hold onto alcohol, others, drugs or things that are addictive in nature. But one thing we can hold onto for a safe ride is our Lord Jesus. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. He brings us through to the other side.

It was so beautiful to see the sky become lighter and the waves calm at the end of the storm on the boat. When we hold onto Jesus, He brings us to the light and to peace.

“Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven.”

Psalm 107:28-30  NKJV
