Loss of identity can come from other types of loss such as:
- Loss of youth
- Loss of other identity
- Loss of innocence
- Loss of relationship through death or divorce
- Loss of motherhood due to miscarriage or abortion
- Loss of job
- Loss of material wealth or property
- Loss of Health
- Loss associated with strengthening your relationship with Christ
Most of these losses are out of our control, so we are forced into a new identity and need to grieve the loss of who we once were.
• Loss of youth in some cultures can sometimes mean loss of value – connect with local support groups or clubs of interest
• Loss of innocence can cause us to lose our worth, self-esteem, trust, hope, safety, or understanding of love – Christian counseling, or support groups.
• Loss of a spouse – such as a pastor, the spouse is no longer the pastor’s wife, or husband – explore other opportunities of (art, music, working out) to create a new identity.
• Loss of motherhood not only includes the loss of a child or not being able to have a child, but the identity of being a mother.
• Loss of a job can leave one wondering who they are as their identity is not linked with their work any longer. More Info on Loss of Job Here
• Loss of wealth or property may be a loss associated with a certain stature in society, comfort, security and safety. More Info on Loss of Job Here | More Info on Loss of Health
