Recommendations for dealing with your loss:
• If you currently do not have a home to live in, contact social services, a local church, friend or shelter in the area for temporary housing. It is important to acquire a physical address (this is required to get a job).
• If you have lost everything due to a tragic event, fleeing your home, fire, foreclosure, there are many groups that can provide assistance such as Red Cross, women’s shelters, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, and local churches.
• Locating or moving to a new home can be stressful. Alleviate the stress by asking friends to help you.
• If children are impacted by the loss of a home, provide hope for the children by staying positive and making a move to a new home an adventure. However, be honest with your children about why you are relocating.
• Contact your insurance company as a result of loss due to fire or water damage. Take an assessment of all valuables contained within the home and determine whether or not you have replacement value.
• Contact a pastor or professional counselor for additional help.
Remember:
• God will provide for you. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:19 NKJV
• God is aware – He understands all your loss. “You number my wanderings; put my tears in your bottle;…”. Psalm 56:8 NKJV
• God Cares – The Lord is good. A stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7 NKJV
