Heaven and Earth

In Matthew 5, we can read the instructions that Jesus gave when His disciples asked Him how they should pray. Verse 10, reads, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” As we contemplate what God’s will is in heaven, we may be very surprised what He wants to do, or already has done on earth.

There is no sickness in heaven; there is joy, peace, safety, life, relationships, light, beauty, color, truth, contentment, trust, love, affirmation, etc. So, as we say this prayer, it is God’s will for all of these things to be activated on earth. We are the vessels that make that activation possible, but the Holy Spirit that lives in us gives us the power for action. An empty vessel can do nothing, the same way a car with no gas can run on its own.
