HATE – LOVE
When we see hate manifested in a person, there are two ways we can respond: with hate or with love. The religious leaders of the day hated Jesus so much they yelled, “Crucify Him!” We see the example of Jesus, as He gave His life up on the cross because He loved us that much. And on the cross He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
Responding to hate with love can be a powerful response. “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1) “Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.” (Proverbs 10:12)
“Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it.” Song of Solomon 8:7a NKJV
But, what is the source of love?
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” I John 4:8 NKJV
