As I dropped the last bag off of my late husband’s clothes at Goodwill, my thoughts drifted to how final it all was. His physical body filled those clothes, and he walked many miles in the shoes.
The disciples must have felt the same way when they saw and heard of the stripped Christ on the cross.
“After they had nailed him to the cross, the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.” Mathew 27:35 NLT
It is His goodwill that we can wear new clothes.
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Romans 13:14
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15:53-54
