Good grief

Is there such a thing as good grief? I know when my husband died, I only wanted to get rid of the pain. I read many books on grief, trying to find answers. Many say there is a process to grieving, and you need to go through it, others say keep busy, and then others disassociate and completely ignore that there has been a loss.

How should you grieve? Does the Bible have answers?

Since each person is different, what might be suitable for one person, may not be good for another. However, you should mourn the loss. You will be blessed if you do, do not try to side-step it “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Second, you need to know that you are not alone; God is with you.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Bible tells us that grief will pass and it will turn to joy, “Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.” John‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬
