God’s Word: can I believe and live by it?
“My bretheren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials.” James 1:2
There are some scriptures that my heart struggles with. Can I count it all joy when I fall into trials? God’s Word says I should. In order to believe, I tell myself, “If God’s Word says it, I will believe it and be a doer of His Word.” By proclaiming this, I am first making a decision that no matter what, I will believe and do what God says I should do.
But why, you may be asking? The next verse tells us. Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:3
When I think of testing, I think of the Broadcasting systems tests, emergency Alert Systems (EAS). These tests are conducted to ensure that the systems are working correctly. God tests us to build our character and ensure we are being built up according to His design. Notice the test produces patience or endurance. The only way to learn endurance is to endure. It is an early warning system. So please don’t ignore it, but count it all joy!
