“So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.” Joel 2:13

The tearing of clothes in the Bible was an outward expression of the pain within; grief, loss, mourning, and remorse. God is saying, don’t go back to your old ways, trying to relieve your own pain. Give me your heart, repent, turn and seek me.
