“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.”
Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV
Notice the first item on the list, pride. God hates pride.
“When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.”
Proverbs 11:2 NKJV
Do you feel Shame? According to the Oxford dictionary, Shame is a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.
The remedy for pride is humble yourself (1 Peter 5:6).
Jesus was our example on the cross. He went low so we could go high. He took all shame to give us glory (Hebrews 12:2).
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” Philippians 2:3 NKJV
Everything we do, and I mean everything, should be done in lowliness of mind.
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
James 4:10 NKJV
