God gives favor to the upright in heart.

“Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore, he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. Daniel 1:8-9

Our actions do have consequences. No matter our circumstances we need to stand firm in Christ. There will be many that want us to do what they are doing. We need to determine ahead of time that we will not depart from the Lord. Daniel decided he would not succumb to the worldliness of the nation that had taken him captive. As a result, God gave him great favor.
