Getting Away
Have you ever been in a situation where you could not hear yourself think because of all of the noise around you? When we are surrounded with many people and activities, it is hard to pray and meditate on God’s word. These two things are critical to our spiritual survival, as His word is food for our soul and prayer is communication; without it a relationship cannot be sustained.
We see that Jesus drew away to the mountain to pray many times. He had to get away and pray and rest. As we read God’s word and store it in our hearts, it will help to sustain us in times of spiritual famine. But our hearts can be in constant prayer as we rely on God’s faithfulness to revive us every day.
“And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.” Matthew 14:23 NKJV
