Get Off My Front Porch!
The big question: “Can Christians have demons?” When we become a new person in Christ Jesus and are filled with the Holy Spirit, scripture tells us that our bodies are the temple where the Holy Spirit abides. Then, how do Christians become oppressed with depression, entertaining constant evil thoughts, or insecurity? None of these things are the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
When we look at the structure of the Temple, there were outer courts, inner courts, the sanctuary (Holy Place) and the place of the Holy of Holies. Jesus cleansed the outer courts. Our enemy, Satan, can come and try to occupy our porches, or out courts, with depression, unforgiveness, sickness and disease and many other things. We must cast him off the premises. We need to keep our minds stayed on the Lord Jesus to keep our porches clean and constantly repent when we do not listen to the Holy Spirit; repentance as an action of sweeping our porch. We can cast out these devils off of our porch by the authority of Jesus’ blood that was shed for us. The Holy of Holies is where the Spirit of God lives. We need to be aware of protecting our holy place through the power of Jesus.
”Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:12,13 NKJV
So, we need to contemplate what we allow in our lives that would keep our temple from being a place of prayer. Keep your front porch clean.
