Generational curses

Many contend that there are no such things as generational curses. Yet, people see right before their own eyes the curses (not blessings) that pass from generation to generation (alcoholism, worry, anxiety, fear, depression, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, pre-mature death, barrenness, financial lack, etc.

If there is a curse, then there is a cause, “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” Proverbs 26:2

Jesus came to take all on the cross. He was smitten, struck down for God’s purposes; to restore what was lost. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, …” John 3:16

If you believe there is a curse on you or someone in your family, there is hope. Jesus came to redeem us from the curse, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Gal 3:13-14

If you have found freedom in Christ, then proclaim that Jesus has redeemed you from the curse and confess any sins for yourself and ancestors. We are not responsible for our ancestor’s sins. However, we will bare the consequences of them if not broken.

“And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6-8

“For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,  but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Deut 5:9-10
