Form of godliness

My brother and his wife have a clothing store. During a recent stay with them, I got up in the middle of the night, and in the corner of the room, I saw a person. I immediately reached for the light as my heart raced. When I turned on the light, I was relieved to find a mannequin staring at me. It looked like a real person, yet it was a dummy.

People can have the appearance of a true believer, speak all the right words and even serve, yet their hearts may be far from the Lord. In the last days, we are to be alert and not deceived.

“For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:2-5
