Do you know if your sins are forgiven? What is your answer based on? 

Is it because God said so? 

Your sins are forgiven because Jesus paid the price. A righteous and just God can not go against who He is, and someone has to atone for sin. This does not mean we go on sinning. We repent and sin no more. 

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”
