Fleeing the presence of God

Have you ever noticed that some people run from God? Could it be that they do not know God?   Even a prophet of God ran.

Jonah, called by God to be a prophet, “arose to flee to tarnish from the presence of the LORD” Jonah 1:3. Here is a man who knew God, and He still fled. Did he not understand that God sees and knows all?

God tells us in His word that His people will perish due to ignorance (Hosea 4:6).   God raised Jonah to bring forward His word to the people of Ninevah.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?”  Romans 10:14-15

We need to listen and obey when God calls us to do something.   Do not fear. When God calls you to do something, He equips you for the job.

Jonah rose and brought forward the word of God, and “The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.” Jonah 3:5
