“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12
We will all go through being tempted. It is how we handle the temptation that determines whether we endure.
We can look at two men in the Bible that responded very differently to temptation: the first Adam (Genesis 3) and the last Adam (Jesus Christ, Mathew 4).
The first Adam, whose surroundings were plush and beautiful, was tempted because he disobeyed Gods word and listened to man (Eve) over God. Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.” As a result, He was cursed and fell
The last Adam, Jesus who’s surroundings were barren and had just completed a 40 day fast, was tempted and did not succumb to temptation. He adhered to God’s word. He was blessed and lifted up.
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mathew 26:41
