Emotional wound series – Loss and Trauma

Emotional wound series – Loss and Trauma

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Mathew 11;28-30

Trauma results from a terrifying or deeply distressing event that an individual experiences that leaves a soul wound.  If you are suffering from trauma, you may feel at times angry, anxious, fearful, stressed, sadness, sleep issues, physical pain, which in turn can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

David experienced trauma, he cried to the Lord for help, “Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief.   My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak.

Psalm 31:9-10

You can see not only is the soul (mind, will and emotions) impacted, but also the physical body.

“The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.   “In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears.  2 Samuel 22:6-8

God can deliver you from the trauma, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.” Psalm 107:6

Seek Him first and His righteousness.  He is faithful.
