How many of you are weary in doing good? Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The word weary in Greek is ekkakeō (spiritless or fail in heart).
Remember, we are to serve the Lord with joy and gladness of heart (Deut 28:47-48). If we are not, we need to repent.
Take note of the word weary in Galatians 6:9 and the word heavy laden in Mathew 11:28. There is a difference between being wearied (ekkakeo – spiritless/fail in heart) and one that is heavy laden (Greek word Phortizo – loaded down). The last, we cast our burdens, and the first, we repent (because our heart has departed from the Lord) and then seek Him for his fullness of Joy in serving.
Remember, Christ is our example, for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2).
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ” Colossians 3:23
