Does Grace work? You are either walking under Grace or the Law.
If you are under the Law, you work. You must fulfil all the 613 commandments of the Law to be right in the sight of the Lord.
“Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.” Romans 4:4
Now, if you are walking under Grace, is their work involved? Many seem to believe that you must work or serve to satisfy God.
Scripture does say we are to be a doer of His word (James 1:22).
And there does seem to be a lot of confusion in the body of Christ regarding Grace, and it should not be so; confusion comes from the enemy. God is a God of order. So, are we required to work when we are under Grace? To answer the question, we must understand what Grace is.
Grace is the unmerited and undeserved favor of God. As an example, let’s look at how you become saved.
“For by grace (God’s unmerited and undeserved favor) you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Notice this scripture says “it is a gift, not of works.” We must receive the gift (salvation). God gives us a measure of faith to believe and receive God’s blessing. When we accept Christ, we receive Grace.
“And of His (Jesus Christ) fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” John 1:16
To continue in Grace, we must be in Christ, “And if by Grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise Grace is no longer Grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer Grace; otherwise work is no longer work. Romans 11:6
“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the Grace of God in vain.” 2 Cor 6:1
Notice it is not us that works, but Jesus Christ works in and through us for God’s pleasure. (Phil 2:13)
