Do You Know God?
Sometimes we think we know someone because we have seen them in videos or read about them. We have never actually talked to them, but we are so familiar with them, that we think we know them. This is a “head” knowledge, not an experiential knowledge.
So, how do we know God? Many have read about Him in the Bible; know all of the Ten Commandments, but don’t have a heart experience. When we have a relationship with someone, we talk to them, we listen, and we do the things together they like to do. God’s word makes it plain to who really knows Him.
“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides [submits, stays with] in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” I John 2:3-5 NKJV
