“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
The temptations that Paul is speaking of are listed in the preceding verses. The lusts of the world (evil things); idolatry (forsaking God for other things); sexual immorality; tempting Christ; and complainers.
These things will tempt us. However, temptation is not a sin unless we act upon it.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
