Desire to go home

At times in our life, we just want to go home. Jonah had so much anger he prayed to the Lord asking Him to take his life, “So he prayed to the Lord, and said, “Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!” Jonah 4:2-3

We should be thankful that we have a merciful and gracious God that does not answer a prayer like the one Jonah prayed. There are going to be times in our life where we want to go home. Our bodies are wearied with sickness or old age.

Paul was even pulled, “For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.” Phil 1:23.

When is the right time to pray a prayer to be taken home? Ask the Lord to show you.

Maybe a prayer that may be more appropriate to pray would be, Lord, show me if there is anything in my life that I need to change. Let me be spotless before you Lord.
