Designer God?
I was talking with someone about designer pocketbooks. She was telling me which designers were on top and had desirable products with their name shown somewhere on the merchandise. I started to think about designer religions. Do we design God to be who we want Him to be, so that it fits our lifestyle and makes us feel good? Or are we drawn to big mega churches because that is where everyone else is going?
I am not against mega churches if they have the true Spirit of God. It boils down to our motivation of how we see God and where and how we choose to worship Him. As far as religion goes, it is about a relationship with Jesus. He should be closer than any friend that we have. When we have a problem, He is the first one where we should go. When we have something that excites us, He is the first one we should thank and praise Him for the blessing. Our design should be to follow Jesus. He has the most powerful name.
“Then I looked and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads. These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
