Compared to Whom?
If we are honest, we are constantly comparing ourselves to others. We may wish we were taller, shorter, thinner, more filled out, lighter skin, darker skin, from a larger family, from a smaller family, or wished we had a family. The list could go on and on.
But when it comes to monitoring our identity, or how good of a person we think we are, we can always find someone to compare ourselves to in order to feel superior. But, consider Jesus! Comparing ourselves to a man without sin will never put us on the top.
The good news is Jesus came to provide a way to cover our unrighteousness with the blood that He shed on the cross. He made a way for us to repent and follow Him. Because He overcame death by raising Himself from the grave, we have power over death through believing in Him. We do not have to “wish” to be a better person. Jesus has made a way to make us new.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
