Can we offend God? We sure can. So what offends God?

Jesus declared to Peter, “…Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Mathew 16:23

Jesus was not calling Peter Satan. He expressed that Peter was allowing Satan to use him to tempt Him. We offend God when we are not mindful of the things of God but the things of men. In the book of Hosea, Isreal turned from God, went after other things and sinned. Sin separates us from God, and He may remove His presence until we confess our sin and turn back to Him.

“I will return again to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” Hosea 5:15
