Jesus’ ministry consisted of preaching, healing, setting prisoners free and proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord.
(Luke 4:18-19/Isaiah 61:1-2).
We see very clearly in Jesus’ day there were demons in the church (Synagogue), and they came in on the back of a person. It was the Sabbath “Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.” Luke 4:33-35
Can there be demons in your church, in the people? Yes, most definitely. How do you know if there is a demon present? The Holy Spirit can give you the ability to distinguish between spirits (1 Cor 12:10). However, the Bible says, “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14. We have a part to play in this as well. A mature Christian submits to God and His Word and exercises their senses.
“But the natural [soulish] man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.” 1 Cor 2:14-15
Ask Jesus to give you the spirit of discernment so you may see what needs to be seen and do the works our savior did and greater (John 14:12).
“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,” Phil 1:9
