To build character we need to be joyful during tribulation and persevere. We are to not only be joyful, but to boast about the tribulations that we are going through, “we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3 

Our character is who we are in Christ. It was love that caused our savior to persevere and it should be love that moves us to reflect Him in all we say and do. If we are not producing Faith, hope and love, then the question needs to be asked, what are we producing?
