Boy Scout Motto: Always Be Prepared
How can we be prepared if we do not know the future? Do we know what will happen to us? Do we know in advance about a car accident, a life threatening disease, the unexpected death of a loved one, or some violent act that may come our way?
I know the One who does know all of my future. And, because of this I look to Him to take me through anything that is before me. As I reflect on the many disasters that I have experienced in my life, I see how God came and provided all of the finances, physical and spiritual support that I needed. But, in order for me to have this, I had to be willing to accept it and know that God was using people to provide His will for me. I had to acknowledge the provisions were from Him.
I look back and the years that I experienced the most trails in my life, I made a commitment that year to read through the Bible, or study it intensely. So, being prepared is simple: trust and cling to the One who knows all and is above all, the one true God of heaven.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV
If we continue to read this passage through verse 18, we can see the entire armor of God described. One important weapon listed, “…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17b NKJV
