There are so many people today who say they are lonely. Loneliness can come from feeling disconnected, rejected, isolated, unloved, and not being heard or understood.
Loneliness is a horrible feeling that drives you into a state of heaviness and self-pity. Instead of being inward-focused, focus on the Lord. Express your feelings to the Lord and ask Him to help you.
Psalm 25:16-17, the writer gives us a prayer to God in a time of loneliness: “I am lonely and afflicted, relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.”
As you are comforted by God, you, in turn, will be able to comfort others.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.” 2 Cor 1:3-5
