Are you listening?  Occasionally I would hear my mom say this as a child. My mind would wander and others things seemed to be more interesting than getting my marching orders for the day.

Today I see the importance of listening. It could be the difference between life and death; sickness or health; and, curses or blessings.

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you.” Proverbs 4:20-24

“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:” Deuteronomy 28:15

“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:” Deuteronomy 28:2
