Are you addicted to something? Alcohol, drugs, pornography, working out, food, etc.

I had many addictions in the past and I thought I could control them all. However, when a tragedy struck in my life, the addictions raised their head in a mighty way. The addictions became a coping mechanism. It was my way of getting control of what I had no control over.

There is no control over addictions. The only one that can take it away is the Lord. Addictions are a combination of your will (soul), mind and spiritual conflict. The substance becomes your Lord (counterfeit God). Until you want the Lord more than the addiction you will struggle. I cried out to the Lord over and over for him to take the addictions, He finally told me to fast. It was the fast He wanted me to do. Not something I picked.

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6-7
