Are you a captive?

A North Vietnamese soldier hid in the jungle for 40 years. Out of fear, he held himself captive, believing it was not safe to return home.

As a Christian, a captive is a person in bondage to sin and not living the abundant life that Christ called them to live.

Jesus said to those who believed, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

To be set free, not held captive, and live the abundant life that Christ has called you to, you need to remain in and live according to God’s word. It is not enough to gain knowledge for the sake of knowledge but come to know the Word (Truth), Jesus.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:34
