Addictions

Trying to be free from addictions takes will power. But more importantly, it takes making a decision. Who are you going to love more? God or the thing that you are lusting after. Whether you are addicted to porn, drugs, alcohol, keeping busy, work, Facebook, food, exercise, etc. Make a decision that God is first in your life. God is not going to take away something you want to keep.

I had many addictions. I could not tackle them on my own. However, I knew I wanted God to be first. I just didn’t know how to make that happen. I started praying, “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” Psalm 143:8.

I had to make a decision every day to not do the things that I was craving to do and put God first. God answered the prayer and took all lusts and drives away from me completely. He caused me to love Him more. However, I do have a new addiction, God!
