Addicted?

Many addictions are not so obvious. Not all addictions are sex/porn, alcohol, drugs or gambling. I have seen people addicted to cleaning, eating, shopping, watching videos, working out, etc.

Many say I need a clean house, have a healthy body, stimulate my mind, have clothes to wear or get work done. However, when these things control your life, they could be an addiction.

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. “Corinthians 6:12

Addictions are rooted in a deep need to feel satisfied, fulfilled, loved, and they are a sin (God is our provider and fulfils our needs). It is systemic of a deeper problem; it is the tip of the iceberg.

The first step to freedom is to acknowledge the addiction, repent and ask the Lord to help you. God is not going to take something you want to keep. He can fulfil you completely.

“For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9
