Accept the Love
I have experienced encountering several people who could not accept love. If we have not experienced love, it is hard to understand a heart of pure love that has no other agenda. It may be a case where we had what we thought was love, but our hearts were shattered when we realized we were being used. Also, trauma can cause us to put up walls because of the fear of being hurt again.
As I ponder this, Jesus said that He came for the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18). Healing our hearts may be a major first step before we can truly accept His flawless love that He has for us.
In Jesus’ prayer He prayed, “…and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” (John 17:23b NKJV)
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” I John 4:18 NKJV
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” I John 4:8 NKJV
