The prayer of David is not the model prayer Jesus taught the disciples to pray. However, when you are in need as David was, it is a prayer that catches the heart of our Lord. David asks the Lord to hear him and respond. So many who have a desperate need don’t even get to the point of asking the Lord for help. That is the first step. Humble yourself, go to the one who can make a change, and trust Him, for He is faithful and merciful.

“Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me; For I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You! Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long.” Psalm 86:1-3
