Is there a heaven, and is it beyond my reach?
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3
Jesus declares He is preparing a place for you? Who is “you”? Is it everyone? “You”, in this verse, are those who believe in Jesus and have a relationship with Him. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
You may say this is not fair. Do you let everyone who comes to your door in?
Seventy-two percent of Americans rate their chance of getting into Heaven as good to excellent. Getting into Heaven is not based on luck or good deeds.
“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” 1 Thess 4:13-14
We get into Heaven not in our righteousness (goodness), but in Jesus’s righteousness. We must believe in Him. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
