I served in the marine corps for 6 years. When you go through boot camp it is a stripping away of old and a conforming to the new. You are to serve faithfully with integrity and honor to the Corps and country. This can be a false religion if you are not careful.
Our walk with the Lord is similar. We make a decision to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His work that He did on the cross. We are then apart of His army. We are to serve faithfully and with integrity. We are commanded to love Him with all our heart, soul and mind. Here is the struggle, our hearts are broken, minds are double-minded and our soul has wounds. So how do we follow the commandment?
Unlike the Marine Corp manual that did not clearly layout the path to success, God’s word does.
- Cry out to the Lord and ask him to search your heart (Psalm 139:23-24)
- Trust and obey (Proverbs 3:5-6)
- Denying self – (Luke 22:42) and do not conform to this world (Romans 12:2)
It is not about following a set of rules but following the one who loved you so much He gave His life for you.
Are you willing to give your whole heart, soul and mind to Him?
“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”
