There are going to be times in your life when you are going to be angry. “‘In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,” Ephesians 4:26
There is also righteous anger. Jesus exhibited an outburst of righteous anger in the temple (Mathew 21:12-13).
And then there is anger that controls a person. Anger is a symptom of feeling trapped. Anger that controls is a result of bitterness, unforgiveness and resentment.
The Bible says, “Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.” Psalm 37:8 and “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” Ephesians 4:31
But how do you do this when it is controlling you?
God told Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:6-7
The enemies desire is to control you. When you feel angry, bitter or resentful, stop meditating on what has caused the anger and cry out to God and ask Him to help you. “… submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
