“And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”” Revelation 14:8 NKJV
Babylon (mother of harlots) was a picture of excessive wealth, pride, sexual immorality and idolatry. Babylon’s lusts and their disregard for God caused them to fall, in an instant their kingdom was taken away (Daniel 5:18-31). Like so many today, Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s son, desecrated the Holy Vessels, refused to humble himself even though he knew God and lifted himself up above God.
It was the Spirit of Harlotry and her children that came upon Babylon and has come upon the nations of the world.
“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:13-14 NKJV
