How I love you, let me count the ways.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

We are commanded to love. It is a decision. Will we love as God loved. It doesn’t sound very romantic. 

We cannot love on our own. It is God who fills our hearts, for God is love (“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:8 ).

We must take the first steps. As we obey the Lord and commit to loving, He fills us with His love for people. On this Valentine’s day, open your heart for God to do a mighty work in you to love as He does.

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:11
