Forgiveness is a word that many brush over. I have heard time and time again. “I will never forgive them for what they did.”
The hurt in a person soul is what causes unforgiveness to fester and can harm you more than the person you can’t forgive. Unforgiveness creates a barrier between you and God.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Mathew 6:14-15
There are consequences of not forgiving. Unforgiveness often times turns into bitterness and resentment.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:30-32
Forgiveness is a decision, a decision to give God the hurt and allow him to bring justice to the situation.
If you are struggling to forgive, remember forgiving doesn’t make what happened right but releases you from the hurt. Ask God to help you forgive today.
