“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful:” Psalm 1:1
Notice the verse addresses three actions a man can take; walk, stands and sits. There is a progression in maturity in Christ. I can hear Jesus saying, walk in all my ways; stand in my presence and sit at my feet and worship.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Learning to walk in Christ is an exciting milestone. It is a step into a new way of life. We must continuously seek God’s counsel and direction for our life. “…Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.” Psalm 143:8
Where we plant ourselves (stand) is critical. As we continue to grow in Christ, God gives us an understanding of where to stand. “…to depart from evil is understanding.’ Job 28:28
The last, most important and the most difficult is sitting before the Lord. “Be still, and know that I am God;” Psalm 46:10. We live in a world of action, constant movement. As we sit before the Lord and open up our hearts to Him, He will fill us with His presence and oneness in Him.
Notice in each stage of maturity we are blessed, “Whatever he does shall prosper” Psalm 1:3
