Have you ever been drawn to someone or something? Where there was such an attraction, you could not deny it?
Many today are drawn to social media, drugs, pornography, gossip, smoking, TV that they say they cannot help themselves. They may be right.
Addictions are a powerful force, and it pulls; and many proclaim, “just say no.” Is it that easy? Saying no is the first step. Yes, you need to deny yourself, your nature and seeks God’s.
Luke 2:48-50 tells the story of Jesus who, “had to” seek His Father. There was a pull; He was drawn to Him.
“When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them.” Luke 2:48-50
Seek God in moments of weakness and make God your compelling force, the “had to.”
“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:8
