What pulls your heart? Shopping, a favourite sports team, working out, watching tv, social media, etc.?
All the above sound like harmless ways to spend your time. However, they can take the place of where your affection should lie, and they can become a counterfeit god.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;” Exodus 20:3, 5
The Lord yearns to spend time with you and grieves when you go astray.
“Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?” James 4:5
