Veterans day, a day to honour those who have served in the United States Military. The men and woman that served have laid down their lives for this country for a higher cause. Many have left their families behind and are serving in remote places. They deserve to be honored today.
As I think about these soldiers, I can’t help but think of Paul’s letter that he wrote from prison to Timothy. Paul’s last letter, right before he was beheaded for proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Tim 2:3.
We all have been called up to serve as a soldier, a higher cause. Therefore we should sanctify ourselves and not be involved in the fleshy things of this world. Keep our focus on what is above and forget the things behind us (Phil 3:13-14)
“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” 2 Tim 2:4
Lord, I ask that you loose grace, peace love and abundance of Joy today to all your soldiers. I pray this in Jesus name.
